Job Title
Quality Coordinator
Job Description
Special Machined Products Ltd (SMP) is a member of the Special Steel Group of companies, located in Sheffield at the heart of the steel and engineering industry. Our Group consists of six independently operational businesses covering multiple disciplines and SMP is the subcontract precision machining company in our Group. We machine products ranging from several tonnes down to a few kilos and have recently invested in new, multi axis CNC machine tools to support our continued expansion. The need has arisen to appoint a Quality Coordinator to work within our busy sales and admin office. Whilst our Group quality team will continue to oversee the maintenance of our ISO 9001 approval and associated quality management system, we need a person with a real interest in quality activities within an engineering environment to support our daily quality functions. These would typically include the maintenance and surveillance of our AVL, reporting of our internal quality metrics, oversight of our calibration records, supporting the sales function with quality questionnaires for new customers, some internal auditing, internal and external NCR replies and the rollout of any new quality procedures to our employees.
Skills Required
The candidate will preferably be experienced within a steel / engineering environment, but more importantly, will have experience and some understanding of the activities necessary to operate a business to the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. At the same time, you will be able to promote and develop any continuous improvement ideas that you identify. This is a role for someone who likes to contribute and wants to see their work make a positive impact on the business. We encourage employee development, and the opportunity exists to attend further quality system training courses to help develop your career. Our plans are exciting and challenging and we offer a competitive remuneration package to the right person.
