Job Description
Due to increasing demand, we have Labourer positions with career progression towards various semi-skilled, higher paid roles such as becoming a saw operator for test pieces or a heat treatment operator / chargehand and beyond. Training will be given. We are offering the opportunity to start your career in the Steel & Engineering sector with one of Sheffield’s most successful Groups. We give proper full-time contracts (not zero hours), typically 40 hours per week with opportunity for overtime, plus pension contribution, a minimum of 31 days paid annual holidays including statutory holidays and all the necessary workwear and PPE. We want to recruit enthusiastic, dependable people with a willingness to learn new skills such as forklift, sideloader and crane driving that will help towards career progression within the manufacturing sector. You will start with duties such as cleaning out equipment and machines, cleaning the shop floor areas, storing and retrieving test pieces, helping colleagues make up heat treatment charges, loading & unloading lorries and moving steel to the correct areas. We will help you progress to a recognised position if you have the desire and aptitude.

Salary: £11.44 per hour with overtime rates paid at time and a third in the week, ‘a half’ on Saturdays and double time for Sundays, plus a company contribution pension scheme. We will review your basic rate after a successful 6 month probation period. There will be the opportunity to increase earnings by extending individual skill sets of which weekly bonuses will be paid as you progress.
