Job Description
Special Testing Ltd is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies.
We are one of the leading Material Testing companies in the country. We serve customers operating in many different sectors with a wide range of tests accredited by UKAS.
The need has arisen to appoint an experienced machinist to work in our specialist machining unit.
Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, you shall be an Experienced Manual Centre Lathe Turner who will work in a small team in this well-established and ambitious Engineering Company.
Duties will typically include:
• Skilled use of Small Colchester Centre Lathes
• Machining to tight tolerances such as +/- 0.02mm
• Screw Cutting
• Contribute to the Design & Manufacture Tooling and one off projects
• Work to established Quality and H&S systems and procedures
Skills Required
You will be expected to work closely with colleagues within the machining unit and also with employees from other departments within the company.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Whilst an apprentice served candidate is preferable, it is not essential, but the successful applicant will have considerable experience in a machine shop environment with vast manual machining experience and be conversant with screw cutting.
